Hello and welcome to Day12, of CGMissions Christmas Podcast. Today’s podcast is dedicated especially to our children. It is entitled “Christmas Prayers.” We hope you are being encouraged by these podcasts. Stay to the end of today’s presentation to hear Christmas music and announcements.

Before we get to our Christmas memory share brought to us by Rhonda from Iowa, let’s hear a few scriptures.

Psalm 34:7 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Now, let’s go to the true story of Rhonda and the Bridal Doll submitted by Rhonda from Iowa.

“We were very poor growing up, but happy. During that year I was about ten years old and bridal dolls were very popular and I wanted one sooooo bad I could just cry. Somehow at that age, I knew that mom could not afford a doll just for me and there were six other children that wanted things too. Still, I wanted it. As a 10-year‑old child, I knew about praying as I lived around the corner from [two well-known churches in the community] and just knew they prayed as sometime I, and a few of us would go to church there. So, I prayed, as a 10‑year‑old child with innocence of heart, I too prayed to God. And Christmas morning I got the bridal doll. As I look back on this, I now see this was the start of my prayer life with God. Sometimes things are not as clear when we are little but, as we grow, He (God) shows us his plan for us. Thank you, Lord, for showing me as a child THAT PRAYER CHANGES THINGS AND I AM NOW A PRAYER WARRIOR!!! (emphasis added by Rhonda).

Thank you, Rhonda. That is a beautiful Christmas memory about, not one, but three Christmas gifts we are going to talk about.

Rhonda got just what she wanted for Christmas. She did not take for granted that she would get her bridal doll. She knew her mom might not be able to get her doll because they were poor and she had six other siblings who wanted Christmas toys as well. But even as a ten‑year‑old she knew about prayer. She knew because she went to churches that believed in prayer. So, she prayed. The wisdom of a child. She did not quote scripture in her prayer but she was applying scripture to her, even as a child because God said, “[B]efore she calls, I will answer; and while she is yet speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24. God heard Rhonda’s call and He answered.

God knew Rhonda’s heart and he wanted to give her the desire of her heart, her bridal doll. Psalm 34:7

But the best part of Rhonda’s Christmas memory is her words “was the start of my prayer life with God.” As a child, the bridal was the best gift she ever had, but when she grew from a child to an adult, she realized the best gift she received was the gift of prayer. And even better being anointed as a prayer warrior. Yes, Rhonda got three gifts on that Christmas, her bridal doll, her prayer answered, and being pre‑ordained as a prayer warrior.

Rhonda reminded me of when I was a child about the same age, ten years old. It was Christmastime in St. Louis, Missouri. The weather in St. Louis that time of year was for the most part warm or at least not cold enough for snow. Nevertheless, I wanted snow on Christmas Day. So, I prayed and asked God to let it snow specifically on Christmas day. And guess what? Of course, it snowed on Christmas Day. I have never forgotten that prayer. I don’t remember what gifts or even if I got any gifts on Christmas day, but I remembered God answering that prayer.

We close with this thought in mind. Parents, be like Rhonda’s mom, who not only bought her the gift she wanted for Christmas, but trained Rhonda up in the way she go, that is, to church, to prayer, and most of all toward God. And when your children are old, they like Rhonda, will not depart from that way. Proverbs 22:6.
