But first, we will start with what is known as our Memory Share in which a person shares a favorite Christmas memory or gift. Today, Gretchen from Waterloo, Iowa, will share her favorite Christmas memory. My name is Stephanie Wright. Let’s join Gretchen now.

There was supposed to be a terrible ice storm here (in Waterloo, Iowa). Christmas dinners were canceled in advance. My good friend, Mallorie, had invited my nephew and me to her Christmas in a suburb of Chicago. I really did not think we should go but my nephew who was about 25 then, said,” Where is your sense of adventure?” So, we took off for Olympia Fields (Illinois).  It was raining but the temperature never got to freezing. We had a great time and met more of her (Mallorie’s) family. We went to more holiday parties in the city and just had a wonderful Christmas. Mallorie died a few years ago but I will never forget her generosity and hospitality. And my nephew did all the driving!

Thank you, Gretchen. How brave, how fearless Gretchen was. What a wonderful nephew.

We are going to talk briefly about that gift, Jesus Christ, once again. And the scripture that I have is James 1:17, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the father of lights with whom is no, variableness neither shadow of turning.” As you go out to do your Christmas shopping or whatever you plan on doing, think of that scripture. James 1:17, because the good and perfect gift, of course, is Jesus. He is that perfect gift that was sent down from above to deliver, special delivery, God’s forgiveness to man for sin. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus). John 3:16. Jesus is the gift that we can all give because this is what Christmas is about. Jesus is forgiveness. Jesus is the key to reconciliation in every situation. It’s about reconciliation through the forgiveness of somebody you may have been holding a grudge against, and the message is to me too, not just others, the message is reconciliation and forgiveness. So, if you've got somebody that you need to forgive, why don't you do that? Of course, be careful. Everybody doesn't want to be forgiven. So sometimes you just have to pray for people and that's all you can do in some cases. So, today we think about that precious gift that came down from above Jesus Christ. We thank the Lord this day for Jesus that came one day to give his life for us so we could be forgiven and reconciled to God.  Remember the true spirit of Christmas. It is good to give but you may not have a gift to give, you may not have money to give, but you certainly can give something of yourself and you can “for-give.”
