Empowered Through Hope Episode 1 – “Hope Beyond Brokenness”

Apostle Charles G. Wright

What is the Christian view of hope? According to the essential church, the Christian's view of hope is that which Jesus already has. In other words, hope in Christ is the confident affirmation that God is faithful. He will complete what he has begun. He is not mocked. Therefore, your confidence in him and your expectations, which wait patiently for God's purposes to be fulfilled, is to be expected by you. Now, if you notice that this hope is really the Lord’s joy. It also says according to King James, for the joy that was set before him, Jesus endured. Let me put it in paraphrase. He endured the waiting. He endured the expectation. Look at Jesus. Even when he died on the cross and was buried, he died in hope with the expectation of His resurrection.

Therefore, he was able to say, “It is completed, it is done. I know who my Redeemer is. God, my father, is my Redeemer who shall redeem me from the grave.” Nothing can hold down what God has promised. Every word that God says is a prophecy. It is expected. It will come to pass. It will happen. No one and nothing can stop God. He is unstoppable.

Therefore, retain your joy. Get your joy back. The joy of the Lord, which is your hope, and your expectation is your strength. Joy is the strength of your faith that you will hold onto and you will
never let it go. So, hold on to your faith in God, he will do the things that's best for you. And he will accomplish the work that he has promised to you and through you. Some of us look toward the opportunity, when we pass on out of this life, to be with loved ones who have already gone before us. It will happen if they're in heaven and if you and I go to heaven. Yes, we will see our loved ones.

We can have this joy as our hope. We can endure what we're going through; our problems, our troubles, our trials, our tribulations, our moments of needing healing in our emotions. Yes, sometimes we're broken. Sometimes we're broken so badly until we grieve and we go into a state of being depressed and we cry. But the Lord says that the devil comes with that kind of attack. He brings that kind of stuff to destroy the people of God and their joy. The devil does his best to to destroy your hope. But he's already defeated. Don't let the enemy defeat you. He's already defeated.

Jesus said your victory is complete. It is fulfilled. It is accomplished. Now you and I by faith and trust in God, by the grace of God, that's been given to each and every one of us, we have this hope as an anchor. Jesus is that anchor who lives in our hearts and who will bring it to pass.

According to Psalm 71, we understand the word of God says, "For you, O Lord, are my hope. You are my trust. You are my Lord. And from my youth, I have believed you.” So, your youth could be identified at the time you first come to Jesus. It is very essential for us to maintain and keep this hope that God has given us. He will complete the work that he has started. Every word that God speaks has a promise of redemption, has a promise of expectation.

According to Hebrews 12, and verse 2, Jesus himself is identified as having a hope. And I paraphrase it, "For the hope that was set before him, he endured the pain.” What pain? The pain of waiting, the pain of expectation, the pain of worshiping God while you wait. Well, you and I are very much aware of the fact that Jesus is identified as The Rock or he is our anchor in which we can hold on to. So, do not be dismayed. Don’t be afraid. And when the storms come and it looks like you're going to lose your anchor, know this, your anchor is remaining. Your Christ remains.

Your hope is our portion when you have hope. You can share your hope with others because your hope is in this same Jesus. We have Jesus as our kingdom of God, community hope. And this hope is our joyful strength because God's word IS our strength. He encourages us so that we can grow by faith, from faith to faith and glory to glory. Yes, from trial to trial and through trials and storms and changes and exchanges and transformations or through emotional pain. And yes, Lord, my goodness we're all suffering in some kind of way which leads to supernatural gain. Your supernatural gain is supernatural joy with supernatural hope. Therefore, take up your cross and follow after Jesus as you grow.

Keep him as your hope. Keep him as your strength. You know, we need to shake off stuff that has a tendency to want to bear us down. In the midst of our hardships some people say, “Stay positive.” I say, “Stay in Jesus.” I say, “Stay in hope.” I say, “Stay in his hope.” His hope is a guaranteed hope. Just DON’T LET GO. DON’T LET GO, because your life depends on it. I'm talking about your eternal life. Yes, yes, stay positive, if you want to use that phrase. No  problem. But nevertheless, Jesus is giving you hope. He is helping you. He sends the Holy Spirit to help each and every one of us by His Spirit who lives inside of us. That hope is alive inside of us. That hope is a living hope. According to 1 Peter 1:3, it is written, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (English Standard Version). The Holy Spirit is the one who brings us the messages of God and the promises of God which are His hope in us.

The Holy Spirit brings hope to you and gives hope to you. And at the same time, he comforts you with that hope. He reminds you of it. You go back and you meditate on that hope and you sleep with that hope. And you wake up with that hope that he's given you. What is your hope? What has God given to you? Sometimes we call it a dream or a vision It's an expectation and destiny. And then God is going to take you and bring you to it. Oh, yes. Yes. We must have His hope in order to live. We have hope for our children. We have hope for salvation. And that hope is manifested when we fully put our trust and faith in his hands. God shall manifest His hope in your life when you put your trust into his faithful hands.

Not too long ago, we sang a little song. I had forgotten this song and it was years ago that we used to sing it. In fact, I could say decades. And we used to sing the song and say, "He's got the whole world in his hands. He's got the little bitty babies in his hand. He's got the whole world in his hands." God’s intention by bringing Jesus into our lives was to give us hope for salvation, hope for redemption, hope for eternal life, and hope to see our loved ones again. And then we will say, “Yes, I love God because he's given me hope. He's given me a promise. He's given me a prophecy.” And some people say, “Oh, I need a word. I need a word from God.” Well, why do you need a word from God? Because you're hoping in the word of God. God does not fail. He can't fail. It's not possible. Now I know what some have said, “Oh, is anything too hard for God?” And the answer is, “Well, it's impossible for God to fail.”

I'll say that. And that's not hard because he cannot fail. It's impossible for him to fail. Nevertheless, all we have to do is believe in him constantly. And what do we do to show that we have this hope and this faith towards him? Well, we continue to pray. We continue to seek the word. We still confess our hope and expectation and destiny in him. We pray about it. Sometimes we fast. We bring it to a confession before our friends and loved ones. And they will see that hope inside of you. And you know something? If you allow that hope to be alive in you, that comes from God, it's going to shine on you, shine through you, shine in your words, shine in your attitude, shine in your behavior. And sometimes when the enemy kind of knocks you down, just get back up in the saddle again. Say, "Well, I'm going to ride that horse. I'm gonna ride that horse. I got bucked off that horse once, but I'm going to get back on it. I am going to have dominion and authority over this spirit who's trying to keep me from my hope. I will ride on the wings of an eagle. If I have to outrun the horse, I will take up the wings of an eagle.  There is a word from Isaiah 40:31 that tells us how we can process God’s hope with the empowerment of waiting. There is another scripture that tells us how to contend. Jeremiah 12:5, asks us, “If running against men has wearied you, how can you contend with horses?” Well, take up the wings of an eagle. Wait on the Lord and renew your strength. You shall run and not be weary. You shall walk and not faint. You are going to take up, you will take up the wings of an eagle and you will fly over all those obstacles. You will overcome everything the enemy brings before you. Amen.

When the children of Israel came into the promised land one of the first obstacles, they had to face was the city of Jericho and its walls. But they followed the instructions of the word of God. God gave them hope on how they should walk around those walls. And for seven days, and then on the last day, in the last moment with a special event, they were to blow the trumpets and the walls came down. Hallelujah! I'm telling you: you need to blow your trumpet sometime. The trumpet is your confession and your belief in the Lord, Jesus Christ. You shall be saved and the walls will come down. Speak to those mountains and the mountains will come down. I'm telling you whatever it is, if it's grieving you. And if it's trying to stop you, command it to come down and get out of your way and take up the wings of an eagle and fly over all of that stuff that has been trying to prevent you from the hope that God has called you to. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. He will accomplish that which he has started. So, let the joy of the Lord be your strength and hope.

God has given you hope beyond your brokenness.
