Episode 9, “Jesus Prayed for Us” Series: Hope Beyond Brokenness

 STEPHANIE:
Hello and welcome to Episode 9, of Hope Beyond Brokenness entitled, “Jesus Prayed for Us.”

This is Stephanie Wright and today along with Apostle Charles G. Wright we are going to explore John 17 and Jesus’ prayer for us when He was in the earth. Let’s learn how that prayer is still as effective today as it was more than 2,000 years ago.

STEPHANIE: Well, hello Apostle Charles. So tell us why did Jesus pray for us?

CHARLES: Stephanie, despite broken relationships with God, as our Father, Jesus prayed for us because we had broken lifestyles. But today we are His workmanship of believing and following disciples. Also, in John Chapter 17, verse 10, we see that Jesus prayed to identify that God had given us, as Christ’s disciples, God‘s glorified image in the earth. In other words, being born again, we are renewed to be God‘s original creation to glorify Jesus.

Remember, the first Adam bonded with our Heavenly Father as he walked in a “Holy Relationship” just as Jesus did when He was on earth. And Jesus prayed to restore that bonding for us. We are to be as one with God like Adam was supposed to be and like the earthly Jesus remained to be.

According to John 17, verses 8 and 9, which I paraphrase here, Jesus prayed the following prayer: “For I have given unto them the Words which you gave me and they have received them and have known surely that I came out from you, and they have believed that you did send me. I pray for them.”

Could I share something significant with our listeners and with you, Stephanie?

 STEPHANIE:
Of course, Charles.

CHARLES:
The Holy Spirit reveals to us through Jesus’ prayers, that it was never our urgency to seek the Lord. It was never our prayer that influenced the prayer of salvation, and it was never our initial urge to study the word of God. Yes, also, it was never ever our power to do the works of the Lord’s ministry. But it was and is always the ministry of Christ ministering to us and through us. It was Jesus who sacrificed and prayed for us. It was and is always God in Christ, by the Holy Spirit, doing everything in our new lifestyles. It is and was always Jesus.

STEPHANIE: And may I interject a few thoughts here before we go on?
CHARLES: Yes.

STEPHANIE: Jesus prayed for every one throughout history. Everyone who came after him, he prayed for you, he prayed for me, he prayed for all of us. What I think about, is the time that someone said, because you preached that message from John 17. . . (I know, you don’t remember that message because you never remember the messages you preached). . .
CHARLES: I remember preaching that.

STEPHANIE: Well, we had that person to say, I remember you preaching that message and it was a very big help to me. Nobody knew what she was going through. . .

CHARLES:  . . . but the Lord.

STEPHANIE: Yes, the Lord. The Lord knew she was going through physical abuse and she dared not tell her family because she was afraid someone might get hurt. But that message encouraged her to know that Jesus had prayed for her. So, it is important for people to know that if nobody else is praying for you, the one who really can answer the prayer is the one who has already prayed for you. I guess that’s why it is so important to pray.

So, let’s go back to your discussion, when we pray as disciples of Christ, it is Jesus praying in agreement with us for our Father’s glorified will to be done, right?

 CHARLES:
Personally, I know in my heart that when I pray it’s not me praying.
It’s the Lord Jesus Christ praying in, with and through me or us believers in agreement with God’s will for a bonding fellowship. God wants us to have His hopeful strength to go through times of brokenness. He will not leave us alone in our brokenness. God will be there with us as our living and giving Hope to see to it that we overcome vestiges of fracturing pain, affliction, hurt, sorrow, and disfellowship.

STEPHANIE: How then do we overcome all these sorrows?

CHARLES: God loved us so much that he gave us Jesus. Jesus loved us so much until He gave Himself to restore our broken relationship with God. Therefore, Jesus also prayed for us and gave us His same Holy Spirit to recreate our human nature into God’s supernatural nature for eternity.

STEPHANIE: So, Jesus is still praying for us?

CHARLES: Jesus, the living and Resurrected Word of God is eternally still interceding for us in Heaven before our God.

STEPHANIE: So, since Jesus is not on earth praying and there are many types of prayers, which type of prayers might be best for us to pray?

CHARLES: Well again, it’s not us praying. It’s really Jesus praying for His Church, for His Kingdom, for you, me, and us. I believe, the best prayer is an intercessory prayer. That is the type of prayer Jesus prayed in John 17.

So, Stephanie, do you remember a teaching that you gave on how Jesus, who is in heaven, is our prayer-advocate for our prayers?

STEPHANIE: Yes, I remember. That was, “The Power Within” Episode 2, on the Holy Spirit where I said. The Holy Spirit is our advocate, like an attorney or lawyer. So, let’s think of it like this. You go to an attorney and explain what you need done. Your attorney is not going to go to the court and use your exact words, she is going to qualify or break down what you said into legal terminology so the judge clearly understands what you are asking for. Most likely, what you say would not be in language the judge would comprehend. But your lawyer will precisely and effectively word your request so it is understood perfectly by the judge. That is what the Holy Spirit does for us. We say Holy Spirit, this is what I need. The Holy Spirit in you intercedes for you to heaven, and Jesus, the mediator between you and God, Who is seated at the right hand of God and has heard the perfectly worded request, finalizes the request to God and God gives the answer. That’s I Timothy 2:5; Mark 16:19.

CHARLES: And today, God has created His birth in us to be changed into Jesus’ likeness and into His image. Whenever we receive this revelation, we’re not getting this revelation, except Jesus gives us that revelation. And, whatever revelation is given to us, by the Holy Spirit, it is God‘s keys to His Kingdom doors. The Lord will give and advocate His keys only to His responsible children, daughters and sons.

 CHARLES:
Isn’t this the way most of us were treated when we were very young and lived with our parents in their homes? Why were we given their keys?

STEPHANIE:
Sometimes, if we had a responsible sister, brother, or friend they were given authority to lock and unlock our parent’s home. So, it is with our Father in Heaven. His will must be done in earth as it is in Heaven.

When we read John 17:8 and 9(a), from our hearts, do we hear Jesus praying? If we hear Him praying then He will give us His keys. He hears His prayed prayers that He had prayed from John 17: 8 and 9(a).

CHARLES:
Now 2nd Timothy 2:13(b) tells us that God cannot deny Himself. Therefore, He cannot deny His Holy Spirit, who prays through us. Jesus said to Pilate, I am. And my Father and I are One. See John 10:30. From that same Gospel of John, chapter 5 verse 19; Jesus stated that everything He did, even the prayer that He prayed, Jesus first could only do what He saw our Father do. Thus, we have faith to receive the Word we heard to believe and hope in. I believe that God does pray through us, as our Holy Spirit intercessor with His own Spiritual-Tongue and language. Therefore, because Jesus Prayed for Us, we have “Hope Beyond Brokenness.”

Stephanie, would you please pray for our podcast listeners? Pray for them to believe and have Hope Beyond Brokenness because, Jesus prayed for us.

STEPHANIE: Lord, thank you for this opportunity to pray in the behalf of every person who will listen to this podcast. We pray that every listener will hear and believe that Jesus prayed for them and continues that prayer as our intercessor, seated at the right hand of God. Let them know that no matter what they are confronted with, you have prayed for them to give them hope and healing beyond brokenness. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Now let’s go to Apostle Charles as he closes us out and tells us how you can contact us. If you would like to share your story about Hope Beyond Brokenness, email us at cgmpresents@gmail.com
