Episode 9, "The Consecration" Series: "Stay in His Presence"
“The Consecration.”
If you want a close experience with Jesus, go on a five-day consecration. I recently had the opportunity to go on a private retreat. Three days were reserved for relaxation and sightseeing, but the other five days were real consecration. Some amazing things happened after my time with the Lord. Listen to the podcast to learn more.

Thank you for joining us today. We continue studying the attributes of the Holy Spirit from A-to-Z. This is Episode 9, “The Consecration.” My name is Stephanie Wright.
Consecration
I recently had the opportunity to go on a private retreat. My grandson was traveling and needed someone to stay with his husky dog. I love dogs and volunteered for the task. My husband, Apostle Charles, could not accompany me, so I went alone. It wasn't until I was waiting to board my second flight that I realized this was an excellent opportunity to consecrate myself for five of the eight days I would be away.
Three days were reserved for relaxation and sightseeing, but the other five days were real consecration. What do I mean when I say “real consecration”? I prayed daily, and I fasted until 3 p.m. I didn't play the word games loaded on my phone. I didn't watch television except for religious educational programs, no movies, no television shows, etc., and I gave up sweets. The normal, everyday distractions of home were absent. The result of this consecration was that God moved in a mighty way.
He spoke to me about several people, and I shared with each person what was given to me for them. Most interesting was how God moved in the area of transportation. My daughter, who was with me the first three days before the consecration, got a first-class ticket back to her home on the day she left. Something she hadn't enjoyed in many years and had hoped would happen. When my grandson returned to the States, he was faced with the probability of missing his connecting flight back home. The airline gave him a direct flight, so he didn’t need to worry about missing a connecting flight. As for me, they canceled my evening flight back home and, without my consent, rescheduled me to leave the next day. Thanks to my grandson and his wife, I was booked on an earlier flight the day I was supposed to leave and arrived home five hours earlier than scheduled. I believe the scheduling of our flights — my daughter, my grandson, and mine — was God, showing he ruled the air. Satan may be called the prince of the power of the air, but he is not all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere at all times. In other words, he is not omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent.
After I returned home, the effects of the consecration continued to manifest. God answered three other events concerning school and work for my grandchildren almost immediately. I also believe God put me on that consecration because I am stepping into a new season with an anointing to pray for people concerning their job situations and education.
Consecration is another weapon of spiritual warfare, like fasting and praying. When you consecrate yourself, you set yourself apart for a special purpose. For example, in Joshua 3:5, the people of Israel are told to “consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” They were obedient and consecrated themselves. And God did do an amazing thing because after wandering in the desert for 40 years, they were ready to enter the Promised Land. The only thing that stood in their way was the Jordan River. They couldn’t go around the Jordan or walk over it. So, God opened the river so they could cross over. Joshua 3:14-17 reads, “And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people; 15And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) 16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho. 17And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.”
This is reminiscent of the Red Sea opening, where they escaped Pharaoh and his descending troops. Exodus 14:21: "Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. "Exodus 14:22: "And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left."
When you consecrate, you separate yourself from the things you like to do most, so you will have a special connection with God. Worshipping Him in spirit and truth takes on a new meaning. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24. Don’t concern yourself with how others consecrate, pray, and fast. Establish your time and place with Him, and learn to listen and wait for Him to speak to you. Find your zone for prayer, fasting, and consecration. You might be amazed.
Thank you for joining us today. Now, let’s listen as Apostle Charles tells us how you can reach us and access other podcasts on the Holy Spirit.
